The Northern Precision Rimfire Alliance was founded to grow the sport of precision rimfire shooting through a unified, welcoming, and competitor-focused organization that is accessible to everyone. Whether you are stepping onto the firing line for the first time or competing at the highest level, the NPRA is designed to provide a challenging, rewarding, and enjoyable experience for shooters of all skill levels.

The NPRA emphasizes simplicity and accessibility in every aspect of competition, including easy score submission, club participation, and clearly defined divisions. Our goal is to minimize workload and costs for clubs, match directors, and competitors while creating a competitive and friendly environment. We are committed to fostering a friendly, positive, and family-oriented shooting experience where beginners, seasoned competitors, families, and individuals all feel welcome. Communication to our members is of the highest priority so everyone can see where they stack up against the competition, stay up to date on news and events, and understand the ins and outs of what is going on within the NPRA at all times.

To ensure accessibility, the NPRA utilizes weight-based classes for bolt-action competitors, allowing shooters to compete with the precision rimfire equipment they already own without the need to purchase specialized gear. At the same time, the series remains fiercely competitive and challenging for experienced shooters while still being approachable for newcomers entering the sport.

The NPRA season runs for eleven months each year, beginning August 1st and concluding June 30th of the following year. Affiliated clubs submit scores throughout the season that contribute to NPRA rankings and seasonal standings. The season culminates each July with a one-day Championship Match that crowns both a Championship Match winner and a Series Points Champion. The NPRA strives to promote the growth and future of precision rimfire shooting across the country.

Justin Uhlir is the creator of the Nothern Precision Rimfire Alliance and has been actively involved in competitive shooting for more than 30 years and precision rifle competition for more than a decade. Over the past four years, his primary focus has been exclusively on precision rimfire competition, where he developed a strong passion for the sport, its community, and the challenge it provides to shooters of all skill levels.

Drawing from years of match experience both as a competitor and match director, Justin created the NPRA with a vision of building a series centered around simplicity, accessibility, and consistency while still maintaining the spirit and roots of precision rimfire shooting. His goal was to create an organization that minimizes unnecessary complexity for competitors, clubs, and match directors while fostering a welcoming, competitive, and family-friendly environment for everyone involved in the sport.

Through the NPRA, Justin hopes to continue growing precision rimfire shooting throughout the regiona and beyond by creating opportunities for both new and experienced shooters to compete, improve, and enjoy the sport together.
